You probably already know most of the content of this article, but it won’t hurt to read it again. Here’s a summary of some good reasons for having a website, or upgrading your current one to have more modern features.
The primary reason for having a website is that it is now normal behaviour for people to be searching for something on the web. You’re expected to have a website; your competition almost certainly will, and not having one will cost you credibility.
Websites are cheap now. It’s cheaper to set up a store online than a “real” one. Printing costs are lower, or even zero. You can have a lot more on a site than in a pamphlet.
It’s a central contact point. And it’s open 24 hours a day. You can send out emails to customers. This can be a good marketing survey technique if it sends the customers to your site, and you gather information to track the visits.
You can have a web-based community. This lets you share information with selected groups, and help you build a larger client base.
Some things are easier if they are done on the web. Contacts, giving information, taking orders. It’s easy to update information, and the results are instantaneous. Some changes or processes can be automated, cutting down on wage costs.
